Roasting Coffee

Yes, I roast coffee from green beans!

I first started doing this in 2008.

I took a break from 2013 to 2026 because I found a great Mexican coffee roasted in Austin and sold at Costco. It was the same price I was paying for green, and I really liked it, so I didn't feel the need to roast anymore.

But then in 2024 I switched to decaf. At first I was buying roasted decaf from Dean's Beans, where I used to buy green coffee. But the prices just kept going up so much in 2026 that I finally decided it was time to start roasting coffee again.

This time I decided to buy my green beans from Sweet Maria's. They only sell green beans, and their prices are much better than Dean's now (which is the opposite from back in 2008-2013). I now have amazing coffee for around $0.16/shot.

I'll add pictures here soon, and detail my procedure to get an amazing medium-dark roast every time.
