Brewing Beer
I have been brewing beer since 2010, and I for a while I provided homebrew for my office occasionally.
I started keeping my recipes and notes on Brewer's Friend a while back. I always add and tweak the recipes there when I brew now.
Several years ago I started using the brew-in-a-bag method. This allows the use of all-grain starch conversion, instead of malt extract, but without the expense and inconvenience of additional vessels and a sparging pump. Instead, a large 200-micron bag is placed into the kettle once the water reaches conversion temperature. The cracked base malt grain then goes into the bag and the starch conversion happens directly in the single kettle. After conversion is complete, a pulley attached to a frame (such as an A-frame ladder) is used to lift the grain bag out of the kettle. You can optionally squeeze or sparge the bag to maximize the free sugars. The resulting beer has been much drier (lower final gravity) than the same recipe using extract. I bought the bag from BrewInABag.com.
Below you can see some pictures of the process.
